There are plenty of excellent children’s books available today. And you don’t have to spend a lot to get some good quality. Many of these good books are available at your library.
You should talk with your local librarian about what types of books you would like for your child. You should choose books based on what kinds of lessons you want to teach your children and that would be of interest to your son or daughter. And your librarian surely will be able to help you out.
There are certain titles and authors that are better for different types of children. You may want to find a few good authors that fit your child and stick with them, so you know what to expect. Some popular authors for children include Dr. Seuss, Martin Waddell, Ludwig Bemelmans, Don Freeman, Crockett Johnson, Beatrix Potter, Else Holmelund Minarik, and Marjorie Flack. Some of these authors are more famous than others, but all in all, you’ll be quite happy with the books that these children’s authors have produced.
You should read to your children on a regular basis. If you read to your child, they’ll begin to learn what different words look and sound like and will begin to comprehend the meanings of different words. Also, reading to your toddlers help when they’re trying to learn to talk. This is another opportunity for your child to watch you speak and read and learn how to do this on their own.
Finally, when you’re considering which books are good to read to your child, you’ll want to make sure they’re books that coincide with the values, behaviors and morals that you want to instill in them. Even the most basic of books provide some terrific lessons in life for your child to learn from. Books can be a dose of real-world experience for your child as she learns about life.
