Mozart, as we all know, was an Austrian composer and a musical genius. He did not have to cultivate his talents, it was a natural-born gift. Was he modest? No! He was a bit of a bragger. He knew he was good and he would often tell whoever would listen. I am sure he would be proud the way his music is still listened to and enjoyed today.
He was born January 27, 1756 in Salzburg, as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. His father, Leopold, was a well-known violinist who recognized his sons talent at a very young age, and already had little Mozart standing on benches to perform as early as the age of 6 years old. Amazingly enough he was composing by the age of 5.
The most extraordinary and incredible talent Mozart possessed was his ability to write music in its total perfection without having to edit or make a single change to what he had written. His notes were the finished product.
Included in his composition were operas, piano concertos, symphonies, quartets and quintets, and still managed to be an accomplished violinist. History books tell us he never had a single lesson, he just picked up the violin and played. The music was inside him wanting to get out.
Mozart managed a decent salary for a musician. He had servants, but by mismanagement of his money brought some financial difficulties, and having to borrow.
He first fell in love with Aloysia Weber, but in 1782 married her younger sister, Constance. The couple had six children together.
In the autumn of 1791, Mozart took ill. It was a tragic day on December 5, 1791 that the world lost one of greatest musicians in history.
